Taking Lives
How can any movie with Angelina Jolie be bad, especially if it’s unrated *WINK* Yes, I did just wink, you know what that means, Angelina gets naked and does the nasty with Ethan Hawke. Anyway, this was a pretty good movie, little predictable but good nonetheless. Decent acting jobs by all the actors. Kiefer Sutherland wasn’t even in the movie that much. MoViE ZoNe Review: *SPOILERS AHEAD* The movie starts with showing exactly how it all started, with this kid (Asher) who is taking a bus, the bus breaks down and he finds a ride with this other kid, and eventually kills him and takes his identity. Then it skips about 20 years or so to the present time, where some Canadian cops, Paquette and Leclair, Leclair is shot and killed by Asher later on, are finding a body at a construction site. They call in Illeana (Angelina Jolie) because she’s good at these kind of crimes. So they end up getting a witness to another murder, Costa (Ethan Hawke). From here on in it’s basically the detectives trying to figure out who’s identity Asher has this time.. Eventually they start to believe it’s Hart (Kiefer Sutherland), who is after Costa. Hart ends up dieing in a car chase where he has Costa hostage. Costa and Illeana fall in love and do the nasty. The cops then bring in Asher’s mother to ID the body, but she just walks away. Illeana tries to catch up with her but Mrs. Asher is already in the elevator, where she is approached by her son, Costa! (Like ya didn’t see that one coming. At first I thought it might be Asher, but the movie drew me away from thinking it was him and what’d ya know, it is.) Mrs. Asher tells Asher/Costa how she thinks he’s evil and wants nothing to do with him. Illeana reaches the ground floor just in time to see the elevator open and Asher/Costa hacking away at his mother’s neck with blood all over the elevator. He stands up with his mother’s head, tears in his eyes, and looks at Illeana as the doors close. He gets away and Illeana gets fired. The movie then skips 7 months to Illeana living in a small town by herself, pregnant. She is alone in her house and walks downstairs to get her tea when she sees Asher/Costa. He throws her around, saying he wants to start over with their baby, she pisses him off by saying it’s Costa’s baby, not Asher’s. He throws her on the floor and stuff and makes her say it’s his baby. She grabs scissors and tries to stab him, but he ends up getting them and stabs her right in the stomach! She doubles over in pain and pops back up, stabbing Asher/Costa right in the chest (around where the heart is.) He looks at her in disbelief and drops to his knees, she takes the rubber belly out from under her nightie as Asher/Costa has a look of sadness on his face then he drops dead, she calls Paquette and tells him it’s done, the movie ends. So the movie itself was a good watch, dragged at some points and there could’ve been more too it, they do a good job getting your suspicions off of Costa, and they fail to address a few things later in the movie (like the sketch), but all and all, it was a decent film, watch it if you get a chance, but I would suggest Highwaymen over this.
Quote Paquette: *answers phone* Yes, we got a match for the sketch? OK. Illeana: *gets up from table* We should be following up on that. Paquette: Uh can’t you see that we’re still eating our breakfast? Illeana drops down a photo of the mutilated body. Paquette looks from the photo to her to his food then reluctantly gets up and grabs his jacket. Highwaymen
First, I’d just like to address the coming attractions, they had Butterfly Effect, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Frequency, so this movie was scheduled to come out way before it did. BTW, Frequency looks like an awesome movie, Jim Cavieziel and Dennis Quade, I’m going to see it asap. As for Highwaymen, Awesome movie, Jim Cavieziel has been dubbed Thu Man, Johnny Deep is still THEE man, but Jim Cavieziel is now Thu Man! He did an awesome job in this movie, his surrounding cast wasn’t bad either, but there’s no doubt he made this movie, The main female Molly (Rhona Mitra) wasn’t bad either, she was hot and all. And the bad guy Fargo (Colm Feore) was great, very original. MoViE ZoNe Review: *SPOILERS AHEAD* Right at the beginning your left with your jaw dropped, it’s like Whoa! Then it skips to five years later and shows these two girls driving in a tunnel, they avoid a crash and one of them is killed by Fargo, the robotic guy driving the Cadillac. Before he can kill the other girl, Molly, some guy comes so All and all, it was a great movie, very original and entertaining, there’s enough chase scenes to keep you into it the whole time. I just think it would’ve been a better ending if Macklin: *cocks shotgun* Private Investigator Macklin, traffic police. *BOOM*
Now I currently have in my possession The Passion of The Christ, Twisted, and Godsend and I will be watching these soon, expect a MoViE ZoNe on them in the very near future. |
